What do I need to know? What will I learn.
The competency test which all members are asked to take and pass is done to ensure that all members are informed and safe in all aspects of using the range, firearms and safety, not only for themselves but for other range users.
Some members may be more familiar with certain aspects than others, but a good all round knowledge of not only your own firearm, but those used by others is essential.
Members are asked to approach this recognising the importance and as such are asked to re visit the test on an annual basis.
The test will include-
club rules relating to range use and other range users.
range characteristics, suitability of targets for different calibres.
range commands.
normal safety precautions, bagging, handling firearms.
Misfire, hang fire drills.
clear four types of firearm, bolt action, semi auto, lever action, pump action.
bore sight and zero a rifle – explain mils and moa.
basic three position shooting test – standing, kneeling, prone.
